Weekly Gleek: Flamey Gay Fire

Welcome back, bois & grrlz! With one week left ‘till Glee graduation, we’ve got a LOT of ground to cover in last night’s back-to-back episodes leading up to Nationals. I have to say that on the whole, I was mildly disappointed with this extra-hyped-up double dose of primetime gay sharks. The first half, “Props,” was amaziballs; but then the actual winning of Nationals in ep 2 was like gumming lukewarm baby food. It wasn’t bad, but it just felt a bit formulaic and predictable (never thought we’d be saying that about Glee, did we?), and as for their song selections at Nationals…meh. They were good, sure, but were they great? Like, national championship great? Hardly. During the commercial break after their Nationals performance, my friends and I actually ended up making a short list of New Directions & Troubletones ensemble numbers we thought were way better; including but not limited to, Somebody to Love, Rumor Has It/Someone Like You, Bad Romance, Shake It Out, Thriller/Heads Will Roll, Valerie, Jump, & You Can’t Always Get What You Want.

Right? When you’ve seen them really go all out, having a blast and nailing it, the Nationals performance doesn’t really compare. It really felt more like they won because it was in the script. But, c’est la vie, not every episode can be the bestest episode ever. And not every musical performance can make your eyes pop out of your head while you try not to choke on your own drool.

We know great when we see it. Don’t forget to swallow before your drool hits the table, kids.

Whether or not you agree that last night’s double episode wasn’t their best, there are still certainly good times and gay shark shenanigans to be had, so let’s jump right in. Episode 20 (“Props”) starts with Unique on the cover of Show Choir Monthly; apparently Wade’s daring has paid off big time, and he’s become the biggest sensation in show choir history now that everyone knows Unique is in fact a drag queen and not a fabulous lady. Sue now wants Kurt to ante up and put on a dress for Nationals, too, so they can

For some reason, these wackadoodle reviews are almost as much fun as the show itself!  And I believe I said before that I will always vote for more Brittany.

Hey!  Did you catch the Glee-inspired wedding video (vocals by Diana and Chord)?  It had to happen, so it happened in B.C.!

...but it looks like it's just a regular wedding video set to a glee song...right? not that there's anything wrong with that ;p

How much has Coach Beiste

How much has Coach Beiste been ADORABLE this week? (and last week?) LOVED the 'shake it out' performance; love UNIQUE ... and love that a Brit-Brit sequel is coming next season.

<3 the beast!

yeah, coach beiste and unique are definitely two of the bestest new characters this year...though I've also come to love sugar and her fake asperger's! and yeah, I'm glad brittany is getting held back if it means she gets to stay on the show another year...not sure what it means for brittana...but my fantasy scenario is that santana defers college for a year, and stays in lima to be sue's assistant cheerleading coach ('cuz you know she's gonna need some help once the baby comes), thereby allowing brittana to stay together. right?
